All you shoppers out there in UK using expensive Apple Laptops like MacBooks, you better be aware of the ongoing scams set up by retail outlets doing business in your area.

News is out that some companies operating across Britain through a chain of retail outlets are using special Big Brother tactics to target users using expensive laptops with hiked prices.

Yes, what youā€™ve read is right! Those using expensive laptops such as those supplied by Apple Inc are being targeted by high priced quotes. And the matter doesnā€™t end with the retail outlets as it includes other companies that are into travel, hospitality and fashion sector.

UK Parliamentā€™s Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng reacted to the news by saying that his department was flooded with such complaints from last year and so has launched a special investigation drive into such complaints last week.

Officials have already submitted a report to the business secretary on the ongoing malicious practices that are being carried out by consumer companies, airliners, hotel industry and other firms that target Apple computer users with tailor made hiked prices.

For marketing firms, it is easy to tell whether an online shopper is using a Macbook or not- all thanks to Browser & cookies data; and based on such predictions, they target the user with prices that are usually exorbitant that what other Windows PC users are paying.

Data Harvesting firms also synchronize their data with the information related to browser activities and can predict whether the user is interested in going for a purchase. Then they pass on the info to retail companies that then switch to desperate sales tactics that end up converting a lead into a sale.

To put an end to this menace, Mr. Kwasi & team are planning to introduce plans that help in amending the current policies that are existing in laws of ā€˜Reforming Competition and Consumer Policiesā€™ and will also plan to pass on special powers to the Competition and Markets Authorities that will enable it to prevent traders indulge in malevolent online sales tactics.
