Are you sure?

Delta is flying. Especially on west cost. It’s bad there, and you know that many people commute between LA and Vegas to gamble.

Do you really want to gamble here?

If you are indoors (which you will be), and there are enough silent spreaders (which there will be), even if you are vaxed and wear a mask, you can still get infected from the aerosol thru your eyes.

L.A. is worse than Vegas, although people do have a habit of crossing a state border and getting off the property when they gamble, because for every jackpot winner there is a sore loser.

Crossing the border makes it federal case to collect gambling debts, because for every guard on duty with his hands in his pockets with the casino security team in Vegas, there’s a debt collector hard at work with a baseball bat in a back alley somewhere in L.A.

P.ease, just don’t do it. Lots of security people are cancelling. Chicago, LA, Hawaii are saying to not travel there.

Matt Blaze and Kati Moussouris are not going, last I saw.

As Marcus Hutchins noted sarcastically:

I think Defcon will be fine. It’s not like Las Vegas is a mecca for people who don’t understand statistics or risk management.

It’s just not worth the risk.

There’s an old Finn. Something shifty is going on. Somebody found an extra magenta color printer cartridge in a back room and printed out a bunch of slick brochures.

Business isn’t going anywhere in Finland anyways with all that mixed up socialist health care in solidarity with Estonia enforcing the latest Norwegian public health district vaccination protocols on all the kids.

Just don’t say Communist with all that red or pink.

Complete with a suited and tied businessman’s LinkedIn profile. That’s too much the Mafia “haircut”(*) for an Italian man at a Finnish business conference.

Of course the Italian concept of doing classic arts should translate into “the right way of doing things” in a business sense, but there’s something a little bit vague here, just hoping it all gets explained in due course for those concerned.

Business has to exist; it has to go on, people do need to find work and make money, but it sounds miserable.

(*) meaning the role of a “wiseguy” in a suit and a tie with all the barbershoppery and tailoring of résumés and CVs, cover letters, just the right “first impressions,” come to find out you’ve been very thoroughly investigated and decisions made for you by the time of your scheduled job interview.
