Kaseya Ransomware attack strikes UK Companies

Kaseya Ransomware attack that affected over 17 nations across the world has now caught the attention of Britain’s Cybersecurity wing NCSC as reports are pouring in that the REvil ransomware gang has targeted over 11 major companies in United Kingdom.The National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) has launched an investigation on the Kaseya attack and is currently probing the impact of its entities.

Meanwhile, high placed sources reporting to Cybersecurity Insiders report REvil gang that launched a Kaseya Supply chain attack is demanding $70 million from all their targets that have locked down from access with encryption.

REvil aka Sodinokibi is being linked to Russian Intelligence and so Biden led US government has launched a serious probe into the incident and are in touch with the Kremlin to know the extent of their involvement in the cyber attack.

Note 1-To those uninitiated, those spreading REvil malware infiltrated the database of Kaseya Software network and are demanding $70 million in cryptocurrency for exchange of the decryption key. Therefore, all the companies that are using the same software across the world are found to be affected through the VSA software vulnerability.

Note 2-REvil is a notorious gang of cyber criminals who are involved in spread of ransomware and cryptocurrency mining. FBI has discovered that the said a gang of criminals have made a Russia city as a safe harbor to spread malware and launched DDoS attacks.

Note 3-The attack was launched on the software supplier on Saturday, a day before the long weekend, when the whole of US is celebrating the Independence Day and so many of the companies will be understaffed and so their response time will be minimal.
