Google One gets certified by Internet of Secure Things Alliance

For building trust among users, companies manufacturing web connected devices should get the approval of Internet of Secure Things Alliance (iOXT) that approves the product only when it passes all the eight security principles planned by it before.

Thus, based on these 8 principles, the iOXT has launched a new certification for mobile apps and VPNs that over 20 companies including Google and Amazon have passed with colors.

Google One, an app that offers Android phone users an overview of their online storage space on its platform is reported to have bagged the certification making it the first mobile app to bag the privileged certificate in the ecosystem of applications related to Alphabet Inc’s subsidiary.

The aim of the new IoT Security Certification program is to offer developers a group badge to earn for their software that helps build trust among users.

As of now, the alliance has approved mobile apps and Virtual Private Network (VPN) services and is planning to include all cloud connected services like social media apps in near future.

Google’s Pixel series of phones 4, XL and 4a became the first devices to pass through the IOT certification last year. And in coming days Gmail and Youtube will join the list.

All such endeavors show the genuine commitment of the internet juggernaut in pushing mobile security practices to the industry’s forefront….isn’t it?

Note– All these days, iOXT alliance used to focus on keeping security on IOT devices intact. Now it has focused on VPN software and has so far granted a badge to VPNs like GoogleOne, Express VPN, NordVPN, McAfee Innovations, OpenVPN for Android, Private Internet Access VPN and VPN Private.
