Bots compromise Jersey Computers to use them for Cyber Attacks

Hackers were seen using Jersey computers to cyber attack servers operating in the United States, Germany and Hungary. The compromised machines were acting as devices to launch cyber attacks and the suspicion finger is currently rising towards Russia.

The Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) of the UK based island has confirmed the news and stated that the criminals behind the digital assaults will be made public as soon as the investigation completes.

Jersey is witnessed a rise in cyber attacks and a clear cut increase in the volume has been observed after the Russian war on Ukraine.

As UK and its allies are supporting Zelensky in his war with Putin, Russian hackers or intelligence might have ordered its state backed criminals to launch botnet attacks or spread malware.

A botnet is nothing but a machine operating on the commands of remote hackers after compromise and can launch Ddos attacks or act as a malware distribution center.

Jerseyā€™s IT Team found details about the compromise when it detected suspicious activity on the network. It immediately informed its CERT staff to investigate and when it received the report, it released some details to the media.

Note– Some nations such as North Korea and China have the tendency to launch cyber attacks through freelance hackers and sham the situation in such a way that the suspicion finger goes on to other nations- Russia, in this case.
