For the first time, UK’s security boss Lindy Cameron has termed Russia and China as the acute threats to the United Kingdom. Although she did not name them specifically for a reason, she mentioned the two country names as dominant hosts that would transform the 21st century world with devastating technologies.
Lindy Cameron, the CEO of the National Cyber Security Centre(NCSC) assured the populace of Britain not to panic, as she said that the country is well equipped with the right technology in securing public and private networks.
However, she warned against complacency among CEOs and asked them to take adequate measures to safeguard their IT infrastructure before it’s too late.
Speaking at a virtual conference held at Queen’s University, Belfast and citing the example of the recent SolarWinds hack and Microsoft Exchange Server cyber attack, Ms Cameron asked for a change in the thinking of boardroom and asked them to invest smartly on threat monitoring solutions proactively.
Coming to the allegations, this is for the first time that the NCSC head has taken the names of the adversaries publicly and stated that China was trying its best to dominate the world of innovation with prerogative warfare techniques.
NOTE- Lindy Cameron took over the office of NCSC as a CEO from Ciaran Martin on September 1st,2020. She will oversee the response of the country to cyber incidents and strive in improving the cyber resilience of the critical infrastructure by evaluating risks beforehand with emerging technologies.
