Windows 11

Microsoft has released the Windows 10 KB5027215 and KB5026435 cumulative updates for versions 22H2, version 21H2, version 21H1, and 1809 to fix problems and add new features to the operating system.

As these updates contain security updates released as part of the June 2023 Patch Tuesday, Microsoft will automatically install the update over the next couple of days.

However, you can install them manually now by going to Settings, clicking on Windows Update, and selecting 'Check for Updates.'

What's fixed in June 2023 updates

With the release of the KB5027215 update, Windows 10 22H2 will have its build number changed to 19045.3086 and Windows 10 21H2 will be changed to 19044.3086.

This is a relatively small cumulative update, with Microsoft spending most of its development time on Windows 11 and just performing bug fixes on Windows 10.

With this update, Microsoft has added an improved search box experience on the Windows 10 taskbar. If you have a top, bottom, regular, or small icons taskbar, you will see the search box appear.

You can use this new experience to access apps, files, settings, and more from Windows and the web.

Microsoft has also added the latest search updates, such as the search highlights feature. If you want to restore your previous search experience, you can do that easily by using the taskbar context menu or responding to a dialog that appears when you use search.

Additionally, Windows 10 update now lets you have up to three high-priority toast notifications simultaneously. This means there can be three high-priority notifications and one normal-priority notification.

Here is a list of the other fixes introduced as part of this update:

  • This update addresses an issue that affects access to Tab settings for IE mode sites.

  • This update addresses a multi-function label printer issue. It affects the installation of some of them.

  • This update addresses an issue that affects the touch keyboard. Sometimes, it does not show the correct layout based on the current input scope.

  • This update addresses an issue that sometimes fails to open the touch keyboard.

Microsoft has listed only one long-standing issue with this update: custom offline media or ISO images might have Microsoft Edge Legacy removed but not replaced by the new modern Microsoft Edge browser.
