Previously, if you worked from home and connected to the CDE through a VPN that required MFA that one challenge was enough, now MFA is required for all access into the CDE as outlined in 8.4.2. The new requirement is best practice until March 31, 2025, after which it will be required and must be fully considered during a PCI DSS assessment.
