'ZDNET Recommends': What exactly does it mean?

ZDNET's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. We gather data from the best available sources, including vendor and retailer listings as well as other relevant and independent reviews sites. And we pore over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the products and services we’re assessing.

When you click through from our site to a retailer and buy a product or service, we may earn affiliate commissions. This helps support our work, but does not affect what we cover or how, and it does not affect the price you pay. Neither ZDNET nor the author are compensated for these independent reviews. Indeed, we follow strict guidelines that ensure our editorial content is never influenced by advertisers.

ZDNET's editorial team writes on behalf of you, our reader. Our goal is to deliver the most accurate information and the most knowledgeable advice possible in order to help you make smarter buying decisions on tech gear and a wide array of products and services. Our editors thoroughly review and fact-check every article to ensure that our content meets the highest standards. If we have made an error or published misleading information, we will correct or clarify the article. If you see inaccuracies in our content, please report the mistake via this form.

We're days away from Black Friday, and the gifting season is nearly upon us. The good news: If you're planning on purchasing yourself or a loved one a new Kindle this holiday season, there are plenty of ways to bundle Black Friday savings on devices and accessories to create the ultimate Kindle gift this year.

While a new Kindle alone is already a highly thoughtful and appreciated gift for any voracious reader, there's no better time than right now to curate Black Friday offers to build the perfect bundle for the reader in your life (even if that's you ... you deserve nice things, too)!

Right now, several Kindle models (including the brand new Paperwhite and base model Kindle) are on sale during Amazon's Black Friday sale, including various preconfigured bundles, like the Kindle Essentials bundle. But these bundles aren't the only way to snag seasonal savings. Here are a few different ways I'd bundle my favorite Kindle accessory (which is on sale) with Amazon's current offers to make getting (or gifting) a Kindle that much better.

The best bundle deal to snag right now is the new Kindle base model essentials kit for $117 (save $45) + a set of Strapsicle silicone Kindle grips for $16 (save $5). Together, you'll pay $134 and save a total of $50 -- an insane value. You'll walk away with a new Kindle, a matching fabric cover, a 9W power adapter, and my favorite ingenious Kindle grip, which allows you to read comfortably in any position

If you're eyeing the Kindle Paperwhite, there's a similar Signature Essentials bundle available for $201 (save $83) + a Strapsicles set for $16. That's $217 for both products and a total savings of $88. The Paperwhite Signature Essentials bundle includes the new Paperwhite Signature Edition (32GB), a matching fabric cover, and a wireless charging dock.

Strapsicles are silicone straps that pop over the corners of Kindles to provide a secure spot for your hand to read from nearly any angle without worry of drops. I recently bought my first set after dropping my Kindle Paperwhite on my face one too many times, and I haven't stopped recommending them since. They're the perfect addition to these discounted Kindles and give you everything you'd need for an upgraded reading setup for yourself or a loved one this holiday season.

And if you don't need or want all the accessories offered in Amazon's bundles, you can still consider adding a set of Strapsicles to your cart before checking out with just your new Kindle device. The $16 you'll spend will be well worth it, and they're a great addition to these e-reader devices if you gift them this season.
