Conti Ransomware gang targeted Wisconsin-based Snap-on Tools in mid-march this year, stealing 1GB files filled with sensitive data. Snap-On did not acknowledge the incident as a ransomware genre but did agree that unusual activity was discovered on some of its computer systems compromising personal data related to the staff.

Back in 2020, some people argued whether it was helpful to tag static images as deepfakes , and whether it was perhaps more useful to flag them as “cheapfakes” as a way to cleanly separate them from video content. Barely 3 seconds in, they snap shut and open again in a way that eyelids simply don’t do. Almost certainly, check.
